The Men's Club meets monthly on the third Sunday night at 6:30PM. Dinner is served and a program follows with business.
The Men's Club has a barbeque chicken dinner twice a year-the first Friday in April and October. Andy Anderson has become famous with his outstanding barbeque recipe that he's known as the 'barbeque guru'. He is assisted by helpers known as the 'pit crew'.
Funds raised from the barbeque go to support various projects. The Men's Club sponsors Cub Pack 51 in Pickens. Donations are made to the Gleaning House Ministries, the Bahamas Youth Mission Trip, and other community agencies. Many work projects and donations are made to the church as well.

500 chicken halves are barbequed over a pit at a time. It takes 2 men to flip over a rack. The 'pit crew' of 6-8 monitors the cooking closely for 3 hours. The final step is spreading the secret sauce on the chickens, just before they are removed from the pit. The results are enjoyed by all the entire Pickens community. |
