During the school year this choir meets on Wednesdays from 6 to 7pm. A meal is fed at 5:30 in the fellowship hall to those who participate. Sometimes other activities are incorporated into this time bracket. The children sing at the traditional service about once a month. A special Christmas program is usually presented by this group the first Sunday of Advent. Kindergarten through fifth grade children are invited to join them!
The Worship Choir leads traditional worship and provides anthems each Sunday, August through June. They rehearse at 7:15 PM on Wednesday nights in the choir room on the second floor. Twice a year they present cantatas - Christmas and Easter. Occasionally the choir sings in community events. This choir is open to high school and adult singers.
Bells of Grace
The Bells of Grace is a five octave handbell choir that plays level 3-4 music, using Schulmerich handbells and a five octave set of Malmark tone chimes. They began in 1985 under the development of Betty Ashley. This is a touring choir that not only plays during the traditional worship service and at local events, but has traveled on missions trips throughout the southeast and in Mexico. The bells rehearse on Sunday nights at 6PM in the bell room on the second floor of the office building. In order to raise funds for their mission trips or church projects the choir hosts spaghetti dinners, sells pecans, and is known for their elegant spring luncheon and fashion show.
Periodically there is a need to use those who play wind, stringed and percussion instruments in the traditional service. Cantatas are an opportunity to enhance accompaniment for the Worship Choir or an instrumental ensemble anthem.
This group leads worship in the Wake Up Contemporary Service, held Sunday mornings at 8:30AM in the fellowship hall. Guitars, drums, ukelele, and banjos share music with the keyboard. Marilyn Gromlovits is in charge of this group who rehearses on Monday evenings.
